Andrew lomosi, Managing Director
Andrew is a Project Development Specialist with deep experience advising on energy efficiency and renewable energy policy and regulation, evaluating energy project development opportunities, and coordinating investments for a wide variety of private investors, non-governmental organizations and international financial institutions. He has in the past been involved in energy project assessments across the spectrum of energy technologies, including wind, solar, biomass and geothermal in Africa. He has provided extensive advisory services to SNV Kenya in implementing 2 programmes in Renewable Energy – the Endev Solar PV Programme and the Improved Cookstove programme; to Kenya’s Geothermal Development Company through the Afdb funded transaction advisory assignment for 300MW in the Menengai steam field, and a USAID funded investor consultation for the development of a Joint Development Model for the same organization; to Ram Energy and Centum Investment on geothermal energy development; to Cummins Cogen Kenya Ltd on power investments; to Teita Estates waste to energy project; to Highland Energy Solution Services Limited (HESSL)in Lagos, Nigeria; to SNV Rwanda on ICS Value Chain assessment, to the US Trade and Development Agency on their power sector grant disbursement program; to ICRAF hosted and UNEP funded Millennium Villages Project among others.
Richard Mokua, Director
Mr. Mokua is an international consultant with over 15 years experience in Environmental Planning and management. He is the author of UNEP’S Independent environmental assessment of FIFA World Cup 2010, South Africa http://www.unep.org/pdf/pressreleases/FIFA_2010_LR.pdf. He has worked as a team leader in several environmental assessments spanning across the African region. He is registered and licensed to practice as a lead expert in environmental assessment/ audits by the National Environmental Management Authority.
He is a master of science in ‘Environmental Management and Policy’ from the International Institute for Industrial Environmental Economics at Lund University, Lund, Sweden. Other academic qualifications are: postgraduate diploma in Urban Environmental Planning and Management’ from the International Institute for Housing and Urban Development, Rotterdam, Netherlands, and a bachelor of science degree in ‘Appropriate Technology’ from Kenyatta University, Nairobi, Kenya. Mokua is certified as a Monitoring and Evaluation expert by the Kenya Institute of Management and currently pursuing a Phd in Energy and Climate change.
Ahmed Sayyid, Project Manager
Sayyid has been instrumental in undertaking various assignments in the power sector ranging from Energy audits, detailed feasibility studies, grid interconnection studies, design and implementation of mini-grids, performing technical due diligence on several power system manufacturers and EPC contractors among other areas. Ahmed graduated with both MEng (Electrical Engineering) and BEng (Electrical Engineering) from the University Of Pretoria.
Bhatt Krishnakant V, Financial Advisor
Mr. Bhatt brings on board more than 30 years of experience in project development in Africa. Most pertinent experience relevant to task assignment was during his tenure as commercial director for Tower power/Powergas where he was engaged to harness power sector opportunities following sector reforms. He has secured permitting and policy approvals for various projects totalling 66 MW, acquired environmental licenses for projects totalling 42 MW, and negotiated loan funding of US$ 15M for a 12 MW power generation project. Principle expectation from him was to implement renewable Energy projects meeting promoter’s criteria on investment and returns. To achieve above, he has comprehensively: Explored power sector opportunities in the East African region; Assessed workable power generation and energy efficiency technologies; Familiarized power sector applicable legal & policy framework ; Secured permitting and policy approvals for various projects totalling 66 MW; Acquired Environmental licenses for projects totalling 42 MW; Negotiated loan funding of US $ 15 M for a 12 MW power generation project; Sensitized PAP and developed RAP for local, county & national supports; Identified low cost technologies and framework to covert an existing stand of biomass under control of a disjointed community into a bankable fuel supply agreement with an incorporated community based organizations; PPA negotiations including grid interconnection agreement; Acquired Regulatory Commissions License to generate power; Finance & legal due diligences; Got US$ 1M grant from 2nd AECF 2012 competition funded by DFID/Danida; Forming organization structure and meeting legal requisite of 7 Registrations. He holds a B.Com: H L College of Commerce Gujarat University Ahmedabad 50% and a postgraduate Chartered Accountant qualification from The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India.
Dr. Stanley Omuterema, Sr. Environmental Advisor
He has a significant amount of academic and work experience concerning environmental management, including auditing undertaken for the National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) for energy development, and working with municipalities such as Kisumu City and Eldoret in the development of Alternative Energy Sources. Stanley is currently Senior Lecturer of Disaster Management and Sustainable Development at Moi University and Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology, a position he has held since 2001. In addition, he has been published in the International Journal for Disaster Management and Risk Reduction as well as the African Environmental Review Journal, and has acted as a consultant to the Nile River Initiative for the development of a Meta Database on the existing documentation of the River Yala Basin. He is currently registred by NEMA as Lead Expert for Environmenal Impact Assessment and Environmental Auditing. Stanley holds a Bachelor of Technology Education, an M. Sc. and Ph. D. in Environmental Physical Sciences from Moi University in Eldoret, Kenya, as well as an M.P.A. from Kenyatta University. Stanley is fluent in English, Kiswahili, and Luhya, and is proficient in Luo and French.
Cyrus Njungu, Electrical Engineer
Mr. Njungu is an electrical engineer with extensive experience in power utility operations. He is a longtime associate of Chevron Africa and currently the Director at Keran Engineers Ltd. Eng. Njungu worked previously at the Kenya Power and Lighting Company Ltd for over twenty five years, culminating in a position as Chief Manager of Design and Construction. In this capacity, Eng. has managed the design and costing of numerous substation and transformer and installation projects as well as distribution line extensions. More recently, he has provided consultancy services to Kenya Power and several Independent Power Producers for the design of power systems and stations. In sum he has worked in Kenya, Finland, Slovenia, Pakistan, Ghana, South Sudan, South Africa, Rwanda, and Egypt. Cyrus holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Nairobi and a Bachelor of Science in Economics with Honors from the University of London. He also holds a Diploma in Management from the Kenya Institute of Management.
Isaac Mwathi, Project Analyst
Isaac has extensive background in renewable energy involving principally small hydro-power engineering, wind energy technology, geothermal engineering, nuclear energy technology, petroleum engineering, solar PV & solar thermal energy technologies, energy from waste technologies, biomass thermo-chemical and bio-chemical conversion technologies, energy storage among others as well as associated transmission, distribution and reticulation lines and sub stations.
Isaac has gained significant experience working with project developers of grid connected solar PV, small hydro (0.1-10MW), Biomass gasification and Wind power projects in Kenya and larger East Africa region. Isaac attained a Bachelor of Science in Energy Engineering from Kenyatta University.
Mr. Godwin Sakwa Lidahuli, ESIA and Resettlement Action Plans
Mr. Godwin Sakwa Lidahuli brings 9 years of experience in undertaking both Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) and Resettlement Action Plans (RAPs) for infrastructure projects funded by Development Financial Institutions (DFIs) which include the World Bank’s International Development Agencies (IDA), International Finance Cooperation (AfDB), European Union EU, German Cooperation (KfW) as well as Government of Kenya funded programs.
Godwin has also worked on various Environmental Management and Social Framework (EMSF) and Resettlement Policy Framework (RPF) for various projects including the Nairobi Metropolitan Services Improvement Project (NaMSIP) funded by the World Bank , Kenya Water and Sanitation Services Improvement Project (WaSSIP), African Caribbean Water Facility (ACPEU) funded by European Union, Kenya Nairobi Rivers Rehabilitation and Restoration Programme (NRHRP) funded by the African Development Bank (AfDB.)
Godwin is a registered Lead Expert No 2492 with the National Environment Management Authority – Kenya. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Studies from Kenyatta University and is currently pursuing Masters of Arts in Environmental Planning and Management (MA) at the University of Nairobi.
